Creating Your Sports Resume
Sports resumes are a huge component of how you can make an impression to a coach and to provide them with measurable data that can be compared with other recruits. Make sure you spend time creating your resume by sophomore year and that you keep it updated constantly. If your resume does not have enough impressive accolades, you should wait before sending. As you will see below, you want to make yourself stand out! If you plan to be a serious top recruit, a credible resume IS A REQUIREMENT!
*Many schools do not keep good records of individual stats - make sure you designate someone, either a parent or coach, to keep accurate records!
Different sports require different information. All resumes should include a picture of yourself, your birthdate, your position, your jersey number, the contact information (e-mail and phone) of your high school and your AAU/Club travel team, your school's address, your address, your parents' names/contacts, your high school team achievements, your personal achievements (separated by year with most impressive honors listed from top to bottom), your AAU/Club team/personal accomplishments, your height & weight, your current GPA, your SAT/ACT score (PSAT score if you have it and not the others), and upcoming games/national tournaments/showcases. You can also add a link to both a highlight film and a full game film.
Other sports will need to include additional, sport-specific physical testing attributes, such as 40 yard dash, 100 yard dash, vertical leap, standing long jump, max bench/squat, etc. Track & Field, Cross Country, and Swim athletes should list their PR times, swimmers should also list their wing span. Softball/Baseball pitchers should list their statistics and pitching speed, while batters should list their batting average, slugging percentage, etc. Again, each sport will have its own specific statistics that need to be listed in order for you to stand out.
